Flash Video Quality and Compression

Posted September 5th, 2008 by admin

Ok.. now flash video is quite simple to produce, but to get it right takes lots of TLC.  To begin with you need to know that if you are to do a good job with flash video you need the right tools.

  1.  A good computer with nice processing power
  2. a good quality video camera (shoot the video in the size you want to steam it at ideally)
  3. good lighting helps improve quality and keep size down
  4. a good video and audio card on your computer
  5. a good encoding software (a professional grade encoder such as  on2’s Flix Pro flv video encoder or Sorensen Squeeze for Flash pro flv encoder)
  6. Next you need to assess your target viewers and their bandwidth and player capacities
  7. you need to have a good hosting company that offers flv video streaming servers such as Adobe’s FMS3
  8. the hosting company should give you a good pipe to the net of 100 Mbps and have a good monthly transfer limit
  9. You need a good player on your web page and you need to configure the parameters to stream the audio properly and communicate well with the fms 3 server
  10. you need to monitor settings and tweak them till the majority of your viewers are happy.

So get the camera and get setup and start producing some great streaming video content to keep us all entertained!
